Abstract

Human resource management (HRM) creates additional value for the companies which recognize and implement HR activities in an adequate way. HRM is a process which consists of several activities, such as HR planning, staffing, compensation, performance management, training and development, etc. Among mentioned HR activities, training and development of employees (T&D) represent one of the most important and basic HR activities. T&D obtain activities that help new or existing staff to acquire knowledge and skills necessary for the job. The aim of the training is to create sustainable change in behaviour and understanding so that individuals with new competences can perform their working tasks, activities and processes. Through the acquiring of the new knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA), employees are becoming more productive and they can achieve better results. Based on the above mentioned, this paper aims to show the relations between certain aspects of T&D and organizational performances and the influence of two aspects of employee training and development (importance of training and systematical evaluation of training) on organizational performances (productivity and service quality). Methodology used in the research is based on obtained data from the Cranet 2015/16 international survey of HR practices and implementation of several statistical techniques in order to provide a comparative overview of the training and development practices in selected countries of Danube region. In the statistical analysis the descriptive analysis, t-test, Spearman’s correlation, and ordinal logistic regression were used. Results of the theoretical and empirical exploration pointed to the conclusion that organizations which have more developed T&D activities achieve higher level of productivity and service quality.
