Abstract

ABSTRACT Georgia, as a tourism destination, has a unique potential in terms of tourism development. The number of the tourists dynamically increases, that supports growth of economic activities as in the tourism industry, as well as in the related sectors. In a long-term perspective, the growth dynamic of the number of the tourists gives an opportunity for increasing economical results received from tourism. However, there are some challenges with the development of infrastructure, offering a high quality service, that ensures stimulation of the positive effects. The article pays particular attention to the tourism development opportunities and potential in Georgia. Due to the actuality of the topic, the economic aspects of tourism are analyzed in the regional and national context. Also, issues related to the tourism development policy, tourism development potential in the regions of Georgia and the issued related to the existing challenges.
