Abstract

We have investigated resolution of the enantiomers of each member of a group of five pipecoloxylidides. A standard TLC method was used for testing the chemical purity of the diastereomeric salts of the pipecoloxylidides. Evaluation of the chromatograms also revealed properties of the materials related to those which affected their behavior during optical resolution via diastereomeric salt formation. In further steps we used TLC not only for quantitative analysis but also for qualitative tests. After several laboratory trials we developed a new, efficient TLC method which has been used to investigate the diastereomeric salt-forming behavior of the compounds.
