Abstract

The influence of parasitic Bragg reflections on LEED data is studied. For the Al(110) surface the energy and angular dependence of intensity reduction due to parasitic reflections are calculated and the results are compared with experimental data. By consideration of the Renninger effect optimum conditions can be found for LEED experiments.
