Abstract

Abstract With the advent of microprocessors new methods of observing dynamic logic states and data flow have become necessary. The basic requirements are: the ability to operate with different logic families; a frequency or clock rate of up to 20 MHz; a display for a presentation of highs and lows in binary format; the ability to trigger on a unique 16 or 32 bit word; and to be able to examine events happening before or after a trigger word. An analogue mapping where the programme flow of the microprocessor is displayed is also useful. The logic state analyzer meets these requirements and this description shows how it can complement the oscilloscope when used on microprocessor systems.
