Abstract
This paper is an attempt to describe the contemporary judiciary in the new states in Africa South of the Sahara. This description will be done in terms of the origin, structure, operations, and problems of the judiciary. Its emphasis is a wide search for policies and strategies to enhance the administration of justice. It describes, criticizes, and prescribes.
