Introduction. Technical and technological safety has an important place in the economic security system of an organization. It is one of the components of general security and is aimed at ensuring the safety of technical and technological processes in an economic entity, plays an important role in ensuring the security of the organization, and its functions and measures are aimed at minimizing risks and ensuring the sustainable functioning of the organization. Purpose. A comprehensive author's study of the essence of technical and technological safety as one of the key components of ensuring the economic security of an organization. Developing an approach to defining its main tasks and functions based on a risk-based approach. Methods. The theoretical basis for writing the article was the use of such general scientific methods of cognition as analysis, synthesis, a systematic approach to the processes and phenomena studied in the article, and detailing. To interpret the results obtained during the study, a logical approach, comparison, summaries, groupings and other methods were used. Results. A set of functions has been identified that are implemented while ensuring the technical and technological component of the economic security of the organization, namely the protection of technologies and intellectual property, the prevention of accidents and man-made incidents, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, etc. Conclusions. Technical and technological safety ensures the protection of technological processes, material assets, personnel and information, as well as minimizes risks and ensures the sustainable functioning of the organization. Important aspects of ensuring this security are risk assessment and analysis, monitoring and control, which make it possible to achieve the maximum level of this functional component, and, as a consequence, economic security in general.
