Abstract

Cleft lip and/or palate is among the congenital craniofacial birth anomalies that are most frequently observed in the head and neck regions. The treatment of this anomaly, which is common today, is the early repair approach. One of the most frequently reported problems in children born with cleft lip and palate is feeding difficulty. It is urgent and most important function to ensure and maintain nutrition in nursing interventions. The aim of this review was to examine the roles of nurses in ensuring and maintaining nutrition in the lip-palate clefts, that are quite common in our country and frequently encountered by pediatric nurses, and in the care of babies based on evidence-based knowledge.
