Abstract
National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation is playing an active role in economic empowerment of persons with disabilities. Education, skill development, nancial assistance and platform to market the product are most important variables for economic empowerment. The Corporation attaches utmost importance to these variables for promoting self-employment of persons with disabilities. It offers nancial assistance to promote economic activities for the benet of persons with disabilities, helps them in setting up projects for self-employment, assist in selling nished products. Through its skill development projects, it not only helps persons with disabilities in self-employment but also facilitates employment in private sector. This paper attempts to analyse the role of National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation in empowerment of the persons with disabilities. It has been found that National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation is seriously engaged in promoting empowerment of persons with disabilities by focusing on education, skill development, self-employment and providing ofine and online platform for the sale of products. However, the coverage is not up to the mark. The Corporation's reach to persons with disabilities is limited. Not even 1% of the targeted population is benetted by various schemes run by it.
