Abstract

The article emphasizes that the current stage of development of society is characterized by significant changes in the field of physical education of children and adolescents, due to its social, economic and ideological importance in the development of society and in shaping the health of the individual.
 Physical culture as a subject of modern secondary school is designed to perform various social functions in physical, intellectual, moral and aesthetic education, support and stimulate the natural processes of physical development of students, their general performance, ensure purposeful formation of motives for learning and learning values. However, if there is a complete concept of forming students' values of physical culture, its level remains quite low, as it is usually expressed in the development and implementation of only certain components of physical culture, often such as motor skills and physical qualities. It is substantiated that the introduction of karate in the system of physical education of high school students can help resolve the contradictions between: - the needs of society in a physically developed, spiritually and psychologically prepared generation capable of effective life in the existing socio-economic conditions and secondary school;
 
 increased interest of students in non-traditional types of physical culture and health activities and the presence of difficulties in introducing them into the practice of physical education;
 trends in the intensive development of martial arts in world and domestic practice and the lack of value orientation of the younger generation to the health benefits of traditional
 
 It is proved that traditional karate as an innovative type of physical culture and health activities, which will be practiced in secondary school, can solve the most pressing problems of physical education and help improve the physical culture of young students.
