Abstract
The article presents an overview of foreign and domestic studies aimed to study the role of elemental imbalance in the development of cardiovascular pathology. The pathogenetically significant mechanisms of the influence of diselementosis on the development of atherosclerotic changes in the walls of blood vessels are discussed. Particular attention is paid to such elements as iron, copper, zinc, selenium, cadmium.

НИИ терапии и профилактической медицины — филиал ФГБНУ Федеральный исследовательский центр Институт цитологии и генетики Сибирского отделения Российской академии наук, Новосибирск, Россия. По данным Ji J, et al (2015), уровень железа был гораздо выше в атеросклеротических очагах по сравнению с нормальными сосудами. Снижение экспрессии этого белка препятствует оттоку железа и ускоряет накопление липидов в макрофагах при образовании пенных клеток, что подразумевает роль железа в патологии атеросклероза [6].
