Abstract

New challenges in the Indo-Pacific prompted the United States to initiate the creation of AUKUS in 2021. Despite the small presence in Washington's statutory documents, the American expert community highly appreciated the prospects of AUKUS. Their assessments were confirmed in the expansion of the range of tasks of the military-technical cooperation of the bloc. At the same time, the expansion of AURUS membership is unlikely due to the complex system of agreements on which the block is built. The most likely scenario seems to be the integration of AUKUS into the flexible system of existing US institutions in The Indo-Pacific in order to deter the PRC.
