Abstract

An investigation was carried out of the rheological and technological properties of silicon carbide suspensions. The optimal linear pH range of silicon carbide suspensions not containing an additive is 8.5–11. Within this range the ξ-potential is at a maximum and viscosity, sedimentation and the build-up rate of the casting at minima; the slip settles only very slightly, the porosity of the fired casting is at a minimum while the density and bending strength are at maxima.
