Abstract

The Resource-Based View (RBV) represents a cornerstone in the field of strategic management, offering a distinct perspective that internal resources and capabilities are fundamental to a firm’s competitive advantage and performance. At its core, the RBV argues that sustainable competitive advantage is derived from the strategic acquisition, development, and leveraging of resources that are valuable, rare, inimitable, and non-substitutable. Over time, the RBV has evolved to incorporate dynamic capabilities and knowledge-based perspectives, enabling it to remain relevant in rapidly changing business environments. This evolution has expanded the RBV’s applicability, making it a versatile tool for understanding competitive advantage across a range of business disciplines, including marketing, branding, entrepreneurship, and human resource management.
