Abstract

Stanniocalcin (STC) is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the corpuscle of Stannius, an endocrine gland of bony fish. Various cell signaling pathways and biomolecules may be involved in the regulation of STC2 expression and its related mechanisms to promote tumor cell proliferation, migration, and drug resistance. Existing studies have shown that abnormal expression of STC2 in malignant cells is associated with tumor proliferation, migration, invasion, treatment, and prognosis. For this reason, it has been predicted that STC2 has the potential to become the new tumor markers for the diagnosis, prognosis of cancer, and potentially a new target for cancer therapy. Key words: STC2; Cancer; Biomarker
