Abstract

According to the statistics of the Chinese Ministry of Education, college recruitment has expanded quickly and this leads to a rush of construction of colleges and universities since 1998 in China. Based on the Post Occupancy Evaluation of the General Teaching Buildings at a Chinese Campus case, this paper tried to explore the current situation and challenge in Chinese University’s learning space and to find out the design requirements among the current users, who including the students and teachers, especially according to research on the satisfaction evaluation and usage requirements at university campus. According to the data from our field research and valid questionnaire, we could see the average satisfaction to the overall learning environment is good for the students (3.48). The users were more satisfied to the interior learning space design and the facilities, management while they gave a lower evaluation to the surroundings of the overall microclimate and the Sound environment. Also, we could see, related to the interior learning space design, the restroom and the space privacy are needed to be improved. About the facilities, the students considered the campus Wifi-network, the charging socket and the classroom decoration were all need optimization. We think what we found above is the clue to optimize our university learning space in general teaching buildings.
