The Research on Quality Evaluation of Machine Translation Text in Computer Aided Translation

Abstract

Computer aided translation is widely considered as an effective way to improve translation efficiency with the rapid increase of translation demand. The quality of machine translation is the key problem for computer aided translation. So the quality evaluation of machine translation text is becoming increasingly important. Firstly, the evaluation principle with functionalist translation theory is introduced. And then evaluation method including three steps which are function evaluation, keyword evaluation and program evaluation is proposed. Finally, several noticeable issues for the quality evaluation of machine translation text are discussed. The quality evaluation method with functionalist translation theory should provide a foundation for the quantitative analysis of the quality of machine translation text. It should be helpful for the improvement of the efficiency of computer aided translation.
