Abstract

Objective To compare the effect of using problem-based learning teaching model with that of using lecture-based learning teaching model in nursing students' electrocardiogram (ECG) teaching. Methods A total of 100 students which is randomly selected from three-year program nursing students of our school were divided into two groups, one using PBL teaching model is the test group ( 50 students),The other using LBL teaching model is the control group (50 students). The teaching effects of two groups were evaluated through the questionnaire survey, examinations in ECG theory,ECG reading and ECG analyzing. Results The abilities of ECG reading and ECG analyzing and judging in test group were significantly higher than that of control group ( P=0.000).No significant difference in ECG theory exam result was found between both groups (P=0.132),Conclusions Using PBL teaching model is beneficial to inspire student' interest in learning ECG,to deepen the understanding of the theoretical knowledge of ECG,and could develop independent thinking and problem solving abilities.
