Abstract

By the methods of literature analysis, individual interview and questionnaire survey, this paper probes into the structure characteristics of private car owners' attitudes on energy saving and emission reduction(ESER), and its influential factors. The result shows that the private car owners have an obscure view on ESER, lacking the knowledge of ESER with no strong desire for it. Private car owners' attitudes on the structure of ESER includes three elements, namely, “benefits drive”, “values concept” and “environmental restriction”. The factors affecting energy conservation activities are environmental awareness, economic benefits and policy guidance. Based on the further research in a wide dimension of the differences and characteristics of various variables, and on the analysis of its interaction effects, this research, in the governors' views, presents targeted suggestions and guidance in guiding the private car owners to practice ESER activities.
