They described a syndrome ofsevere cardiovascular dysfunction, bradyarrhythmia,decreased mean arterial pressure, and systemic vascu-lar resistance, along with an increased mean pulmo-nary artery pressure, pulmonary capillary wedge pres-sure, and central venous pressure. The etiology of thissyndrome had been attributed to acute acidosis, hyper-kalemia, and hypothermia, and the authors also con-cluded that vasoactive substances released from theliver graft may be involved.
