Abstract

Adolescence is a transition from childhood to adulthood which involves changes invarious aspects such as biological, psychological and socio-cultural. Biologically, when achild experiences puberty is considered an early indicator of adolescence. However, because there are no significant biological markers to mark the end of adolescence, social factors, such as marriage, are usually used as markers for entering adulthood. This research uses analytical survey research methods. The population used was allstudents at SMP Muhammadyah Cilegon totaling 180 people. The sample was takenusing a total sampling technique. From the research results it was found that mediaexposure and the role of parents had a significant relationship with students'knowledge. This is because media exposure is an aspect that plays an important role inincreasing teenagers' knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention. 91% of the population aged15-19 years use the internet for the main reason is to communicate. Teenagers oftenuse Instagram social media to search for health information, apart from WhatsApp,Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia. Social media is a platform that can be used foreducation because it can reach many targets that are not limited to time and space.(Tamtomo, 2019). Apart from media exposure, parents have an important role inconveying information about sex and sexuality, because parents are the first sourcewhere children learn and are guided about sex until they become teenagers. Theimportance of the role of parents in children's knowledge is not trivial becauseknowledge is the main capital that every living individual must have in order to survivethe times. For this reason, efforts should be made for parents to increase knowledgeabout reproductive health, establish closeness with children and determine When isthe right time to provide knowledge about reproductive health, especially knowledgeabout HIV/AIDS so that the information obtained is the first one before the child gets itfrom others.
