Abstract

Spiritual principles governing Iran's traditional architecture have deep roots in the country's culture and thoughts. The principle of privacy and introversion as the most important principles governing all aspects of life has been beautifully rooted in the traditional architecture of Iran and had deep consequences in spatial organizing and the way of placing various functions. Involvement of Iranian elements with currents Islamic thought, culture and art have given a new face to Iranian arts. Iranian architecture after Islam has unique design, elegance and accuracy and Islamic outlook has left undeniable effects on its identity and shaping. The main issue being concerned in this study was privacy and introversion as one of the most significant features mentioned in the architectures alleged to Islam. This article aimed at providing a definition of privacy and introversion, and introducing their relations and influences in the organization of spatial- physical architecture of traditional houses.
