Abstract

One of the institutions that pave the way for the economical, social and cultural developments of a society is the universities. It is the power of qualified personnel in the universities that puts this development into effect. The purpose of this study is to detect the opinions of academic personnel in the universities on the organizational value and the organizational commitment. In order to achieve this goal, views of the academic personnel in both state and private universities on the organizational value and the organizational commitment are studied comparatively. Opinions of 218 academics of whom 124 are from the state universities and 94 are from private universities were collected. The methods of mathematical average, t-test and Mann Whitney U test have been employed for the analysis of statistical data. As a result of the research, organizational value in both state and private universities is found to be quite high, whereas organizational commitment stays at medium level. No significant difference has been detected between organizational value and organizational commitment. Moreover, no significant difference has been found in the areas of title (excluding organizational values of the Associate Professors in the private universities), gender, and marital status (excluding marital status of personnel in the private universities).
