Abstract

On June 8, 1937, there will be a total eclipse of the Sun of 7.1‐minute duration at noon and visible over a path starting at Santa Cruz Island in latitude 11° south and longitude 166° east at sunrise, over the Pacific Ocean in latitude 10° north and longitude 131° west at noon, and in Peru in latitude 12° south and longitude 70° west at sunset. The total time of travel from the eastern to the western extremities of the path will be roughly 3‐1/2 hours.Exact details of this eclipse are not yet published, but the Nautical Almanac Office of the United States Naval Observatory has furnished sufficient information to determine the following approximate times, so that some idea of the relation of this eclipse to work on the ionosphere can be obtained.
