Abstract

1. Fifty cases of tropical ulcer in being or in formation were selected for estimation of the blood-serum-calcium. The values found showed that the level of the serum-calcium is not a factor in the pathogenesis. 2. Twenty-three out of the fifty cases were observed until they healed. The rates of healing were found to bear no relation to the level of serum-calcium. 3. Eighteen cases observed for only part of the time occupied in healing confirmed the statement made in paragraph 2. 4. It is concluded, therefore, that intravenous injection of calcium salts in the treatment of tropical ulcer has no rational basis.
