Abstract

This paper identifies the main challenges regarding the regulation of the transportation sector in Brazil after the privatization phase that recently occurred. The complexities of the regulatory and institutional aspects of the transportation sector are emphasized with respect to the complementary and competitive elements that exist among suppliers, links and subsystems. The analysis focuses on ports, railways and highways subsectors.
