Abstract
To-day we hear continually that there is an urgent and ever-growing need for scientists and technologists in research, in teaching and in industry. The government has set high targets for the output of trained people and is spending large sums of money on the expansion of facilities for training, weighted heavily on the side of technology. The young people who will take advantage of these increased facilities and who will eventually be the scientists and technologists are now in the schools.
