This paper on the reality, management and simulation of complex systems addresses: the characteristics and stability requirements of complex systems, the mechanisms by which complex systems create order out of chaos or fluctuations; co-operation and competition; innovation and control for the management of complex systems: the role of negotiations, information and technology; limitations on the knowledge and analysis of complex systems; simulation as the third reality: its necessity and constraints.
