Abstract
1. Experiments were carried out on specimens with an equilibrium structure in order to redefine the boundaries of the homogeneity range of titanium mononitride and determine the effects of composition upon its lattice constant and density in the annealed condition and after quenching from 1400°C. 2. It is shown that, after annealing and quenching, titanium mononitride in the whole range of metalloid concentrations has the NaCl structure with statistical distributions of titanium atoms in the metallic sublattice and nitrogen atoms in the metalloid sublattice. 3. The degree of filling of each of the two sublattices with titanium and nitrogen atoms was determined as a function of the nitrogen content of titanium mononitride.
