Abstract

Tetrasulphur tetranitride reacts with thionyl chloride to form thiotrithiazyl chloride (S4N3Cl) and thiodithiazyl dioxide (S3N2O2). The reaction between tetrasulphur tetranitride and diselenium dichloride in the presence of thionyl chloride gives thiotrithiazyl chloride and a compound (SeS2N2Cl2)n tentatively proposed as selenotrithiazyl hexachloroselenate ([SeS3N3]2SeCl6). The infrared spectrum of (SeS2N2Cl2)n is reported.
