Abstract

The purpose of this article is to convey a simple approach which resolves auditory hallucinations in a brief period of time: Clients who present themselves in a mental health setting and complain of hearing voices are usually labeled psychotic. This label generally carries with it the assumption that the client will need long-term therapy, antipsychotic medication and all too often, psychiatric hospitalization. The rapid resolution of auditory hallucinations helps the client, as well as the family and mental health professional involved in the case to feel hopeful and positive about treatment outcomes.
