Abstract

Titanium in alloy steels has been rapidly estimated with moderate accuracy by taking the steel into solution with perchloric acid and precipitating the element from an ammoniacal solution containing E.D.T.A., magnesium sulphate being used to accelerate precipitation. The Ti was then determined colorimetrically using the yellow colour developed by hydrogen peroxide in acid solutions.
