Abstract

Direct immunoperoxidase labelling on impression smears of brain and pharynx was co compared with virus isolation and direct immunofluorescence for the detection of Aujeszky's disease virus in experimentally-infected pigs. Immunoperoxidase labelling was as sensitive as immunofluorescence and more sensitive than virus isolation for tissue that had been stored at room temperature (approximately 20°C) for up to 144 h.
