Abstract
Research Article| September 01 2014 The Rape of Harriet Tubman Janell Hobson Janell Hobson Janell Hobson is an associate professor in the Department of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University at Albany, SUNY. She received her Ph.D. in Women's Studies at Emory University and is the author of two books: Body as Evidence: Mediating Race, Globalizing Gender and Venus in the Dark: Blackness and Beauty in Popular Culture. She is also a writer and blogger for Ms. Magazine and The Feminist Wire, and the lead organizer of the Harriet Tubman: A Legacy of Resistance symposium, which celebrated the 100th anniversary passing of Tubman in 2013.
