Abstract

A model with coupled hadronic and quark compound bag (QCB) channels is considered providing a natural basis for the if P-matrix analysis of the Jaffe-Low type. The resulting dynamical equations explain quantitatively the occurrence of a strong repulsive core as due to wide QCB states and predict large admiture of QCB states in nuclei. A good description of 3S 1 and 1S 0 NN phases is obtained in the region 0⩽ T 1 ab ⩽515 MeV.
