Abstract
Q* concept has been proposed to predict the life of creep crack growth. Especially, for structural strengthening materials such as γ′ strengthening Ni-based super alloys, 9–12Cr steels and TiAl intermetallic compound, which is creep brittle materials, it is suitable to predict the life of creep crack growth. The accuracy of the life of creep crack growth was assured up to several thousand hours. In this article, at first, the concept and definition of Q* parameter were discussed. Furthermore, the derivation methods of Q* parameter for creep ductile and brittle materials and examples of actual applications for these materials were discussed.
