Abstract

AbstractThe pseudopotential method and the thermodynamic perturbation theory are applied to construct the phase diagram of the eutectic system Cd‐Zn. The Einstein model approximation in the solid phase and the hard sphere approximation in the liquid phase are chosen as reference systems. Satisfactory agreement of the calculated phase separation curves with experimental data is observed. A correlation between the position of the phase separation curves and the thermodynamic characteristics of the components is found. An analysis of the contributions to the mixing energy is made, and the correlation between the mixing energy and the mixing volume is established.
