Abstract
Troponins are proteins that facilitate contraction of cardiac muscle by binding with actin and tropomyosin. Each troponin (Tn) complex is composed of three subunits - TnC, TnT and TnI. TnC binds calcium and regulates activation during contraction. TnT binds the complex to tropomyosin while TnI inhibits binding in the absence of activation.
