Abstract

Inclusion of provisions concerning a people's right to self-determination, contained in the first articles of the United Nations documents The Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and The Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, confirms the fact that this right is recognized by the world community as inherent and inalienable for any nation. Human history and political practice have demonstrated various ways to implement national self-determination, so the world community documents contain no specific mechanism. This demonstrates a certain political insight and wisdom.
