Abstract

Abstract The prevalence of question use in print advertising is examined using 10 of the largest selling consumer magazines across a three-year period of time. A classification scheme of “question strategies” for advertising communications is presented for the 10,774 questions observed. These strategies are then examined across different positions within advertisements. The implications of these findings for communication management are discussed, along with a research agenda.
