Abstract
Abstract The purification or synthesis of AgCl, AlCl3, BiCl3, CrCl3, CuCl, CuCl2, FeCl3, NaCl, NiCl3, SbCl3, and ZnCl2 is described. Great care was exercised in order to reduce anionic as well as cationic impurities. Therefore, the salts were analyzed for metallic impurities by emission spectroscopy and also for nonmetallic impurities, mainly oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, sulfur and bromine, by spark source mass spectrometry. The purified salts were found, with few exceptions, to contain no impurity, cationic or anionic (including oxygen), greater than 100 ppm.
