Abstract

This paper has researched the vector modulation strategy of three-phase to single-phase matrix converter (3–1 MC) with an active power decoupling capacitor, and focused on asymmetric two-phase current vector modulation of 3–1 MC's virtual inverter. Each work state of 3–1 MC during a switching period is obtained based on the analysis of 3–1 MC's voltage sectors, current sectors and the input current signal at unit power factor. The input power keep constant after active power decoupling, therefore the high power factor is achieved easily according to power factor correction (PFC) technique in rotating coordinate system. In the PFC control system, 3–1 MC's active current and negative current can be regulated independently. Finally, an example of high power factor 3–1 MC used in the airport is conducted in MATLAB. The results of stimulation indicate that the method of power decoupling is feasible, and the unit power factor is achieved.
