Abstract

Background:Impaction is a pathological condition in which a tooth cannot erupt because its growth is blocked, its abnormal location also causes a gap between the adjacent teeth which can become a place for food or bacteria to enter, making it difficult to clean. The remaining food that is tucked away will cause pain and can also cause caries in the second molar. This study aims to determine the relationship between impacted mandibular third molars and caries incidence of mandibular second molar. Methods: This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional approach. The research sample is positive sampling, the research sample is 130 respondents. Results: The results of the research test Chi-square test results also showed that there was a relationship between gender, impacted position of the mandibular third molar with the incidence of caries in the mandibular second molar with ap value of 0.002 <0.05, Conclusion: there is a relationship between types of sex, impacted position of the mandibular third molar with the incidence of caries in the mandibular second molar.
