Abstract

Nowadays people consider the plastic surgeon as an artist. They examine plastic surgeons very closely, looking for evidences like sculptures and paintings in the clinics to assess their artistic talents. In fact if they could, they would choose Michelangelo instead of Hippocrates in the operation room. We all know that the aim of a plastic surgeon is the beauty, the patient's quality life or more correctly the realization of the patient's willing. On the other hand the results obtained by plastic surgeons respond to aesthetic and artistic armaments. Nevertheless a plastic surgeon remains a doctor, an Asclepio's disciple, a scientist. The people's current opinion is probably affected by two factors. First of all, science and art are frequently associated with medicine. And secondly plastic surgery means the re-establishment of the aesthetics and functions whereas commonly many people are convinced that the only aim of our specialty is to restore the appearance.
