Abstract

Siemens started its NPP-activities with the development and construction of a number of small and medium size power reactor (SMPR) plants, using different reactor types (PHWRs, PWRs and BWRs). Siemens applied its proven technological modules successfully to all types of nuclear power plants as it is demonstrated by the high availability figures published every year. Based on the experience gained from Atucha I and II, the Argentinian engineering company ENACE (of which KWU holds 25% of the shares) has developed the ARGOS 380, a NPP in the SMPR-class, as an advanced continuation of the KWU PHWR series. The technology transfer provided by Siemens in the course of NPP construction includes all activities in the engineering, construction, manufacturing and erection/commissioning field. Additionally Siemens is prepared to assist in the transfer of manufacturing know-how. On the basis of its successful activities in this field for years, Siemens disposes of all instruments for an efficient know-how transfer.
