Abstract

The photoneutron cross section of natural Sr has been measured from threshold to 27 MeV using bremsstrahling and direct neutron detection. The measurement is compared with theoretical dipole spectra of 88Sr calculated using the particle-hole formalism and the dynamic collective model. Although all structure observed can be accounted for by either one or both models, neither offers a complete explanation of the observed cross section. The relevance of the conservation of isospin is discussed.
