Abstract

The He (I) resonance photoelectron spectra of nitrogen trifluoride and nitrogen oxide trifluoride are presented, assigned, and correlated with boron trifluoride and carbon tetrafluoride spectra. The NF 3ONF 3 correlation is discussed in terms of a donor N bond in ONf 3, and from the ONF 3CF 4 correlation it is proposed that the highest occupied orbital in CF 4 is 1t 1. Correlations with MO calculations are discussed.
