Abstract
The photodegradation of a polyamidehydroxyurethane type polymer in aqueous solution in the presence of various metal ions has been studied. It has been ascertained, that Fe3 + ions accelerate the process of photodegradation; Mn2 +, Co2+, Cu2+, Cr3+ ions retard the process of degradation of the polymer. With increasing Fe3 + concentration, there increase the rate of the degradation and the values of the quantum yield of chain scission, φcs. At greater Fe3 + concentrations, there is observed a stabilization of the degradation by the end of the process, that fact means that in this case the number of macroradicals recombinations is greater than that, at less Fe3+ concentrations. The photocatalytic role of Fe3+ ions has been related to the formaion of the OH radicals.
