Abstract

In this study, authors report a facile method to improve the photocatalytic NO removal efficiency by simple Li-intercalation after the growth process of Bi4O5Br2. By combining experimental and theoretical analyses, the synergistic effects of more defects on the surface, adjustable photon absorption edge and intensity, prolonged lifetime of the photo-induced charge carriers and suitable redox potential lines are responsible for the photocatalytic efficiency improvement. This work proposes a new and promising method to modulate the efficiency of the Bi4O5Br2 photocatalyst by post-synthetic Li-intercalation and illustrates a deeper understanding of the improved photocatalytic efficiency.
