Abstract

A circular step ring groove hydrostatic thrust bearing with branched feed system is described and analysed. Both the static and the dynamic performances of the proposed supporting system were investigated. Comparisons are made between the behaviour of the suggested bearing arrangement and other conventional arrangements. The new supporting system should allow better performance under the specified conditions. A design example is presented and a special construction of a zerowidth circular groove is given.
